Bridging the Gap Between Scrum & Design Practices

Design activities rarely seem to fit into “Sprints”. And it often feels appropriate to perform design work ahead of development. As a result, many teams struggle to incorporate all team members in the feedback loops that lead to high-quality design. This struggle is real, but solving this problem is worth the effort.

Development risks are mitigated by working in small, reversible steps — like the Sprint cadence. Scrum encourages teams to produce slices of new functionality each Sprint — design, development, testing, and delivery seem to occur simultaneously. As a result, many teams struggle to incorporate design activities that span multiple Sprints. This struggle is real, but solving this problem helps ensure the team is both building the right thing and the building the thing right.

The Professional Scrum with User Experience (PSU) course is a hands-on exploration of modern UX practices with Scrum. Learn UX techniques that fit beautifully with Scrum and practice these techniques with cross-functional teams in class.

PSU participant

Honestly, there was nothing to improve on. David was the perfect mix of engaging, yet professional. The material was presented in an interactive way that invited discussion, but was informative enough to keep things moving at a good pace.

Product Owner

The value added of having a Scrum trainer like David, with proven expertise in the field, is obvious in his class. There is a great combination of concepts and theory with scenarios and case studies, which makes the class interactive and fun in an environment of openness and respect.

Process Excellence Project Manager

The best thing about my experience in David’s class was the level of genuine interaction and the space he created for reflection and open discussion. He didn’t just teach concepts — he facilitated meaningful conversations that made me feel like an active participant rather than a passive learner. What really sets this experience apart from other courses or seminars is his patience and his ability to make every question, no matter how big or small, feel valuable. I never felt rushed or dismissed, which made the learning environment both empowering and comfortable. This approach helped me internalize the advanced concepts in a way that felt practical and relevant to my role as a Product Owner.
